Welcome to auth.mit.edu

auth.mit.edu is an OpenID provider for members of the MIT Community

What is this thing?

OpenID is a distributed authentication system for the web. Using a single OpenID, you can securely sign on to any website that supports OpenID, without ever having to give them a password or even create an account. auth.mit.edu gives MIT certificate holders an OpenID identity.

How do I use it?

Go to any website that supports OpenID. (e.g. Livejournal or Doxory) Enter http://auth.mit.edu/your_username_here into the OpenID login box. If your browser has MIT certificates installed, you should be prompted if you want to allow the other site to authenticate you. Say "yes", and you'll be logged in!

How do I ask more questions?

E-mail the developers at auth-dev @t mit.edu
